Who We Are
The Wentworth Golf and Tennis Foundation is a registered charity (No. 1006003) based at the world-famous Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey. Established in 1991, we use golf and tennis as powerful vehicles for personal development, social mobility and community transformation.
Our Mission
To engage young people with golf and tennis in local schools, and to identify, nurture and develop young sporting talent through access to world-class coaching, facilities and mentorship, while using sport as a vehicle for character development, educational achievement and social mobility.
Our Vision
A world where every young person, regardless of background, has the opportunity to discover and develop their sporting potential, using sport as a pathway to personal excellence, community leadership and positive social change.
What We Do
Each year the Foundation is aiming to support over 600 children in local primary schools through our outreach programmes, introducing golf and tennis to young people who might never otherwise have access to these sports. Our 40 active scholars, aged 8 to 18, receive world-class coaching from PGA and LTA qualified professionals at Wentworth Club, with post-16 scholars also benefiting from one-to-one mentoring from successful professionals and business leaders who are members of the Club.
We believe sport changes lives. And we believe every young person deserves the chance to find out what they are capable of.
Our Commitment to the Local Community
Alongside our core scholarship and outreach programmes, the Wentworth Golf and Tennis Foundation is committed to supporting the wider community through active philanthropic giving. Each year we invest in local charities and organisations that share our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive — whether through sport, education, wellbeing or simply having somewhere safe to belong. From small volunteer-led clubs to established charities working at the frontline of mental health, disability and youth support, we seek to direct our giving where it will make the most meaningful difference to children, young people and families across Surrey. We are proud to stand alongside the organisations doing this vital work, and we believe that a foundation rooted in one of the world’s great sporting venues carries a responsibility to give back to the community that surrounds it.
